My Favorite Moments of RITA Night - Jamie Farrell

My Favorite Moments of RITA Night

Yay! Hubby came for a visit at the new house this weekend and brought the cable for my camera, so I can finally share a couple pictures from the Romance Writers of America’s annual RITA awards!

I don’t know how I got so lucky to have such wonderful friends, but I’m grateful for each and every one of them, and I’m grateful for the moments they share with me.

Like this one–

Great friends, great celebrations

L-R, Maria Geraci-RITA finalist!, me, and Lisa Stone Hardt

I’m so grateful that my family drove up to Atlanta so I could go to the RITAs and cheer for Maria. (Psst! Have you read A GIRL LIKE YOU yet? You should!) I’m also grateful that I got to have so much great quality time with friends that I don’t see nearly enough, and that I got to meet old friends in person for the first time.

Friends like the fabulous Alannah Lynne. (Have you read Alannah’s books? She writes steamy contemporary romances. I loved SAVIN’ ME. And she recently hit the New York Times Bestseller List!!) Alannah and I have known each other online for years, but we met in person for the first time in Atlanta. She’s such a sweetheart! And she surprised me with one of the coolest gifts EVER –

The Second Best Gift A Romance Writer Can Get!

See that license plate holder? It says “New York Times Bestseller In Training.”

Alannah received the license plate frame as a gift from a friend a while back, and now that she doesn’t need it anymore (that still gives me happy shivers!), she’s passing it along. I’m so honored she passed it on to me, and I hope I’ll earn the right to pass it along to someone else someday too. In the meantime, it’s sitting on the mantle in my new house, being my motivation.

RITA night was a lot of fun. My friend Lisa gave me more happy shivers when the Contemporary Romance RITA was announced. She leaned over and whispered, “Next year, that could be you.” I saw a RITA up close and personal when Eloisa James walked by with hers, and also when Maria stopped Simone St. James to congratulate her. Simone won both the Novel with Romantic Elements and Best First Book RITAs for THE HAUNTING OF MADDIE CLARE, which I’m getting up the nerve to read since it’s a spooky ghost story sure to give me some scary dreams.

But I’m all about the happy dreams today. Wonderful friends, my debut launch, and an amazing awards night have me super excited about the future.

Aw, thanks!! 🙂 Love that dress – but it was actually too big on me. SO not used to that problem, lol.

Why do I look so short in this picture? Obviously, something is amiss here 😉

I’m sure it was just that you were in shorter shoes. 🙂
